PREVENT ZIKA VIRUS DISEASE WHEN TRAVELLING
- Unnecessary travel to the infected countries to be avoided/cancelled*
- Pregnant women or women who are trying to get pregnant should cancel their plan to travel to these affected areas
- Everyone who is travelling to the affected countries/areas should sternly follow individual protective measures, mostly during day time, to avoid mosquito bites (applying mosquito repellent cream, electronic mosquito repellants, using bed nets, and clothes that completely cover all your body parts).
- People who are suffering from co-morbid conditions (diabetes, hypertension, chronic respiratory illness, immune disorders etc) should take advice from the nearest health care, before travelling to an infected country
- Travelers suffering from febrile illness within two weeks of coming back from an affected country should instantly report themselves to the nearest health care facility.
- Pregnant women who has been in regions with Zika virus transmission should discuss their travel during ante-natal visits so that they can be assessed and monitored appropriately.
* Based on available evidence, World Health Organization is not recommending any travel or trade restrictions.
