- Body aches

- Skin rash

West Nile virus is carried by 14 types of mosquitoes, but birds are the natural hosts. A mosquito gets infected when it bites the infected bird. The virus moves to its salivary glands and is injected into a new host-human or animal- with the next bite of the mosquito.
HOW DO YOU PREVENT WEST NILE FEVER?
With no vaccine to protect you, the best way to prevent it is by avoiding a bite. Using an effective insect repellent can help prevent bites.
1. Banish breeding grounds
Mosquitoes multiply in stagnant water. Get rid of or clean water containers and keep your swimming pool clean. If you own a pond, bring in fish – they survive on larvae.
2. Mosquito-proof your property
